Alexandra de Cramer
Alexandra de Cramer is a writer and journalist.
She began her career as Beirut correspondent for Milliyet, reporting the Arab Spring from Lebanon. For a decade she covered Turkey from Istanbul, and those years left her with a habit of reading a country closely. She has written about earthquake negligence, a collapsing currency, wildfires that took a season's honey, and the fading legacy of minority journalism.
The other half of her work is about making. She has profiled a thirteenth-generation winemaker in the Badische Bergstrasse, two women distilling rose oil in Burdur, and a bookseller who moved his shop to Heybeliada to guard a building's memory. Each one is an argument for continuity.
She is currently based in Athens.
New pieces are filed in the selected works as they are finished.
